Finding Peace Within

M. Catherine Thomas, quoted in her book Light in the Wilderness, "It’s the work we put into our souls to understand all things as much as we can; it brings an awakened awareness and yielding of our hearts to God. It can take the weight out of emotionally heavy things, which seems to control everything physical, but not spiritual.
Everything we thought we needed from other sources, we can find in Jesus Christ, and that turning our will over to him becomes the greatest relief, and is beautiful and full of goodness, and puts us in a new harmony."
I feel as I read and ponder the writings of those who have passed, with the leaving behind of their own divine knowledge, things that they have learned, it is slow and hard for me to understand the volume of the task I have to understand in my soul, and the principles of my soul, and what it has learned step-by-step. I get impatient sometimes because learning 'line upon line' is slow, and I truly want to understand them now.
I feel that I have to live it to learn it—to feel it within me with all aspects of who I am: physically, spiritually, and emotionally, which takes time. As I am getting older myself, sometimes I feel that time is running out. I need to remember that I have an eternity to learn it.
But I crave to learn the things that fill my soul with love and joy and their opposites, for I cannot have one without the other while in my earthly body.
